This ring is one of the most well-known and sought-after rings, loved for its shape, its aesthetics but also and above all for its meaning; it is part of the Irish tradition and is called "Claddagh ring".
It features two hands holding a heart surmounted by a crown, all three elements with a strong symbolic value, representing respectively friendship, love and loyalty.
This type of jewel has its origins in an Irish village since the 600th century, and is part of a group of rings called "fede rings"; the name "fede" derives from the Italian phrase "mani in fede" (which more precisely means "hands joined in faith").
Wedding rings are a type of ring that date back to Roman times, when the gesture of clasped hands was a symbol of promise of marriage; in the medieval period and during the Renaissance they therefore became popular as engagement/wedding rings.
 
Today's example is made even more special by two factors, first of all its age, as it is an ancient ring, made in the year ; the elements that compose it are also different from what we are used to: if the arms with his hands are classic, the rest is less so: instead of the traditional stylized heart we find one with a different appearance, which could however also be a shield (perhaps an alternative image to represent the symbol of love, here understood as a desire for defense and protection?); finally the crown that surmounts it is also different from what we are used to, being thinner and finer.
