Vintage 18K Gold Carnelian Cross Pendant, 60s/70s

This vintage pendant, made between the 60s and 70s, is almost entirely made of carnelian, which has been engraved to give it the shape of a cross. 
It is thus formed by many spheres, each of which is directly connected to the other; in the center, however, we find not a carnelian sphere but one in yellow gold, which breaks the sequence a bit and gives a touch of different, rather contrasting color. 
The gold parts are 18K yellow gold.
