Multiple antique "harem" ring in 14K gold with sapphires, early 900s
This beautiful and very special ring is an example of what are called "harem rings".
One of the most widespread explanations of why this definition seems to be that this type of multiple (and truly unique) ring was given by Turkish men to their first wife, in such a way as to "distinguish" her from other spouses.
In this case we have an ancient ring made up of 4 different rings: they are all distinct and with their entire structure, but they are connected and linked together (therefore indivisible); interesting, particular and funny is the fact that they can be slightly opened and moved (but not too much, otherwise the connection mechanism breaks).
Each of the 4 rings is quite thin and fine, decorated with a row of six oval cut sapphires, for a total of 32 sapphires.
The setting is entirely in 14K yellow gold, and the ring dates back to the early 900s.
