Vintage "Ballerina" ring in 18K white gold with brilliant and baguette cut diamonds (2.92ctw approx.), 50s / 60s
It is a type of ring whose name, in my opinion, already says it all: this is in fact an example of a “Ballerina” ring.
The way the diamonds are positioned, as well as the choice of cuts, make it incredibly similar to a ballerina's tutu (or skirt) when it turns, opening it and making it rotate in a beautiful movement.
The beauty of the ring is therefore made by the very particular setting, unique of its kind; but without the diamonds that we find there it would surely be something else entirely!
At the center we find the largest diamond of all: it is brilliant cut and weighs approx. 0.80 ct .; a round of eight other diamonds of the same cut surrounding it perfectly, immediately giving a sense of movement.
However, the "skirt" opens completely to the outside, where we find two types of different cuts that alternate: for every three baguette-cut diamonds we have a brilliant-cut diamond.
This alternation here is certainly spot on, I would dare to say perfectly: if you look closely, the baguettes manage to give a strong sense of depth and maximum openness, and while the gaze moves to the roundness of the diamonds it really looks like a dancer whose skirt is turning.
Excluding the central diamond, the rest of the stones are for a total of approx 2.12ct.
On the whole ring we find therefore almost 3ct, and more specifically 2.92ct ca.
Not least is the frame, entirely in 18K white gold and particularly worked and decorated.
The stem is divided into many lines that go towards the diamonds, and the entire outer edge has a series of lively decorations, all consistent with the general meaning of the ring.
