Vintage 18K gold “Plus qu'hier moins que demain” pendant with rubies, 60s/70s

The beautiful pendant you see is one of the most famous love symbol jewels that exist.
It was in fact made on the inspiration of the medals created by Alphonse Augis, a jeweler from Lyon who first thought of this jewel, decorating it with the phrase "Plus qu'hier moins que demain" ("More than yesterday less than tomorrow").
For this beautiful phrase he in turn took inspiration from a poem by Rosemand Gérard, who dedicated the words to her husband: 
Car, vois-tu, chaque jour je t'aime davantage
Aujourd'huis plus qu'hier et bien moins que demain.

Our pendant is entirely made of 18K gold and, like all medals, has a circular shape, the surface of which is covered with many small engravings. 
The sentence that decorates it was written in this way: at the top we find a “+” with a rectangle underneath engraved with “qu'hier”; the “-“ was instead made with two baguette-cut rubies, placed side by side and highlighted by a yellow gold outline; under the conclusion of the sentence, “que demain”, engraved in a curved scroll, which follows the trend of the medallion. 
Furthermore, at the top right we find the small engraved “A. Augis ”, referring to the original creator of this jewel. 

In conclusion, this jewel contains a wonderful and moving declaration of love, which wants to make it clear to those who give themselves the jewel that today they will love them more than yesterday but less than tomorrow, because it is a feeling destined only to grow with time.
