Vintage 9K yellow gold ring with cameo on lava, 40s/50s

In this case the surface on which the sculpture was carved is that of lava, a perfect material for engraving and carving, with the characteristic that it will maintain the same color (unlike other materials suitable for carving); it can also be found in different colors and shades, in this case a dark beige. 
The subject depicted is that of a beautiful woman, of which we can clearly see the entire left profile: the face is serious and expresses confidence, with an aquiline nose and a large mass of hair collected and adorned with what appears to be a rose. Everything seems to recall an ancient era, Greek or Roman, making the jewel seem like a real piece coming from those years. 
The cameo is set in a 9K yellow gold setting with a thin and serrated frame, while the shank is smooth.
