Antique 14K yellow gold ring with cameo on green agate, early 900s

It is truly difficult to say what is most striking about this ring, it is so full of particular and surprising elements, which attract the eye and attract attention; what is certain is that the whole thing has given life to a jewel full of charm and mystery, which makes you want to have it even just to be able to show it, almost as if it were a museum piece. 
In this case our ring was made in the early 900s and with a rather narrow and elongated oval shape. 
Decorating the front part we find a stupendous cameo, made on a green agate and which therefore allows for a strong impact background; the engraved image represents a full-figured woman, who we see in profile and dressed in a tunic that seems to be moving in the wind. Incredible is that, despite the small size of the cameo, we are still able to identify every part of the woman's body and read a story, thanks to the way in which she holds her head, slightly bent, and in which an arm and a leg have been positioned. 
To securely hold the cameo, a 14K yellow gold setting was chosen, which still manages to surprise us: we immediately find a thin external frame, which however is part of a bezel whose external edges have all been decorated with engraved designs; finally, note how the entire back of the cameo is covered and closed.
